NOOR photo agency and Nikon support documentary photographers from emerging markets all over the world through the organization of annual motivational masterclasses. The kick off program will took place in Lagos, Nigeria at the Nigerian Institute for Journalism.

From March 16 to March 20, 2009, 15 West African photographers participated to the 5-intensive-day workshop together with NOOR photographer Jon Lowenstein, Pep Bonet and Kadir van Lohuizen.

Masimba Maurice Sasa from Zimbabwe, who attended the workshop, said: “I found the workshop very enjoyable and thought provoking, and I have learnt to be more assertive in my work as a result. It was an honour to be able to learn from the NOOR photographers. Their expertise and life experiences were very relevant for what I would like to achieve I the future.”

Julius Mwelu from Kenya added: “The workshop was a one in a million experience for me. It has been a great week and I hope that it will happen again so that the world will be able to see more of the photographic talent in Africa.”

The masterclass has been made possible ever since thanks to the generous support of Nikon Europe.
